Ceramic League of Miami:
75 Years of Shaping Community Through Clay
June 14, 2025
Throughout its history, The Ceramic League of Miami (CLM) has significantly contributed to the cultural landscape of South Florida. Founded in 1950 by a group of pioneering women artists, over the decades, the nonprofit arts education organization has grown into a vibrant hub for ceramic artists of all levels, offering classes, workshops, and community outreach programs. Its mission encompasses educating both members and the general public in all aspects of ceramics, from wheel-throwing and hand-building to specialized techniques like raku and mosaic. CLM’s mission is rooted in the belief that ceramics is both a craft and a catalyst for connection, offering classes in wheel-throwing, hand-building, raku, mosaic, and more. As it marks its 75th anniversary, the League continues to champion creativity, education, and community, honoring a lasting legacy of artistic excellence in Miami. This exhibition, juried by Richard Notkin, highlights the work of several current CLM members, celebrating the depth of talent within the League’s vibrant community.
